The Carrie Syndrome

Are you a Carrie?

Do you have more shoes than you can count?

Have you ever had the hardest time looking for your favorite little black dress and as you are rummaging through your closet you find another little number still with its tags? The little find was all of 50 percent off at the time, so who could resist. Well you didn’t; however, it soon fell into closet heaven because it was completely forgotten. That did not stop you from buying it, it was the great find, the item you could not live without and of course you will find the perfect occasion to wear it.

I think we have all been there: overdraft in our accounts, eating out when we should be paying a bill and just plain living above our means. If you listen to the array of economist whom prophesized on the doom and gloom of America’s state of affairs from Jim Cramer to Larry Kudlow you would know what we are up against. We as a society, I believe global society, will be driven kicking and screaming to the times of 1929 and/or 1932. Now, will it be as bad, maybe not, but with the overwhelming number of pink slips being passed currently, we don’t know the difference.

A Close Mouth Doesn't Get Feed!

Yes, I have been closed mouth for some time in regards to starting my business. I was only able to bounce ideas off of my closest friends and, even then, I did not fully disclose. Not that I have to share every minute detail but be able to use my friends as sounding boards and get their opinions. My friends are my target market, so it is perfect.

Currently, I am attending classes at San Francisco Renaissance Entrepreneurial Center and I try to be an active networker. Both have help tremendously for me to come out of my shell. If you live in the Bay Area and have not ever taken a class form the Renaissance Center, you should. Check them out:
http://www.rencenter.org/.

So one advice that I must give is to get out there and network, host focus groups and conduct informational interviews. Doing your research will save you plenty of time and money! Start or join an incubator because this will also help you get to the next step in your business.

I added two videos from Josie Maran and Amy Swift. Both are very inspirational.
